Description
View of the Allegheny Square Plaza fountain, looking northwest. The space has been continuously occupied as a public and community space over the years. Originally Diamond Square and formerly Ober Park, the space became Allegheny Square Plaza during the renovation project of Allegheny Commons in the 1960s. It was again redesigned in 2011-2012 by the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh becoming Buhl Community Park. In view is the Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny (1890). According to the website of the New Hazlett Theater Center for Performing Arts, the music hall space was renovated and the building primarily use became a theater in 1967. It was renamed the Hazlett Theater in 1980. In 2004 it was renamed the New Hazlett Theater after further renovation.
