Description
Employees working in a laboratory of Columbia-Southern Chemical Corporation, a subsidiary of Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company located in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1899, PPG contributed interest that led to the founding of Columbia Chemical Company. This acquisition marked PPG’s entry into the bulk chemical business, which later became PPG’s Chemical Division. At its location in Corpus Christi, Columbia-Southern produced chemicals such as chlorine, dry ice, soda ash, and caustic soda.
