Description
Cover image from Flaig's Spring 1960 catalog. Photo of painting of Flaig's Lodge in springtime, Millvale, PA. Flaig's Lodge was home to a gunmaking business that opened in 1935 and was run by brothers Edwin Flaig, Alfred Flaig and Charles Flaig in Ross Township, Allgheny County, PA. The lodge was located off Babcock Boulevard at Thompson Run Road. They were known for their custom made hunting rifles and shotguns. The lodge featured many landmarks including a stairway on the property made up of 115 millstone steps, a monogrammed chimney and over 12,000 evergreen trees on the property. Photo shows a log cabin lodge with stone chimney nestled into a wooded hillside with evergreen trees, blooming dogwood trees and other flowering shrubs and trees. A newer addition is seen beyond the log cabin. The drive approaching the buildings has a wooden guard rail on the right hand (downhill) side.
