Description
This is a decorative memorial featuring the bullet that wounded John M. Boyce in the Civil War on November 27, 1863 at New Hope Church, Va. during the Battle of Mine Run. After being shot, he was taken prisoner near Richmond, Va. and held for five months at Libby, Belle Isle, Lynchburg, Andersonville, and Miller prisons. He was exchanged Nov. 21, 1864 and discharged in 1865. He went on to marry, have six children, and briefly serve as a legislator.
