John Crispens ran a general store in Franklin Township (Franklin Park Borough), Allegheny County, PA from circa 1920 into the early 1960s when the building was demolished to make way for a gasoline station. In this early 20th century image, Crispens is seen standing infront of the two story clapboard structure that housed the store on the ground floor and his residence on the second. Signs for ice cream, candy, cigars, tobacco, tires, tubes and Atlantic Motor Oil are seen. Boxes of Kellogg's Corn Flakes stand in the windows along with boxes of Quick Mothers Oats. There is an outdoor sign for Whistle Soda. Thirsty? Get the Handy Bottle. Two Atlantic Gasoline pumps stand in front of the store next to the road.
