Description
The Hotel Eberhardt or 5 Mile House stood on Perry Highway at the intersection with Bellevue Road at the edge of West View Borough in Ross Township, Allegheny County, PA. Built circa 1830, it burned in 1970 and was replaced by a gasoline station. The photo shows a two story clapboard structure featuring wood window shutters and striped window awnings. A painted Hotel Eberhart sign is attached to the balcony above the main entrance. A telephone sign is attached to the corner of the building. Posed in front of the building is a group of men and women, some in aprons. A horse and covered wagon are on the dirt road.
