Description
View of the former Bellwood Dairy, which is now the Unitarian Church on West Ingomar Road in Franklin Park Borough, Allegheny County, PA. The barn was built in the late 1920s by Preston and Isabella Craig and featured electric lights and milking machines. It was said to be the largest dairy barn in Western PA at that time. The dairy was later purchased by Charles Bardoff, owner of Bard's Dairy stores. Facing bankruptcy, Bardoff sold the farm to Dr. Clarence Cummings who continued the dairy operation. By the late 1940s, the property was divided and sold. The outbuildings are now gone and the barn has been remodeled into a sanctuary, offices and classrooms. The two silos survive. A pre-school occupies the original farmhouse and the former creamery has been converted into a residence.
