Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's Lee Kelton Orchestra was WJAS radio's staff orchestra and was heard nationally on the CBS radio network. Back row from the left: Lee Kelton, James Yagello, Emily Gyekis, Clarence Kaecher and Harry Wassel. Front row from the left: Bob Martin, Scott Cambell, Frank Hull, Dick Alan and Carol Campbell. Dick Mandera joined the group in 1943, the year it became the WJAS orchestra, and was told he would need to change his German last name. He decided Alan, the name of an aunt. From that time on, he was professionally known as Dick Alan and remained with the band until 1985. Mr. Mandera played both clarinet and saxophone and sang baritone.
