  • Founded on St. Patrick's Day in 1927, the Highland Volunteer Fire Department is located on Highland Road in Town of McCandless, Allegheny County, PA. Members constructed the garage/meeting hall in 1929. Shown in this undated photo are several men looking at an early fire truck that features ladders and extinguishers. Highland Firemen's Association is painted on the side of the truck. A portion of another truck with hose reels can also be seen. In the background is the fire hall with a siren on the roof.
