  • For the first few decades of the 1900s, Monroeville was a farming community. Cattlemen drove their cattle in herds from Westmoreland County and Patton Township over the Northern Pike to the stockyards in East Liberty. And even well into the 1940s, many local families still ran the family farm, complete with barns, cows and horses.
