Description
Milton Shapp (1912-1994), candidate for the governorship of Pennsylvania, shakes hands with another man beside a white van with a poster reading Teamsters Local 249, Labor for Shapp, governor,--Staisey, Lt. governor, A.F.L.-C.I.O.-Teamsters, Vote Democratic." Shapp and Staisey ran unsuccessfully on the Democratic ticket in 1966. In 1971 Shapp ran with a different running mate and won the election. He served as governor of Pennsylvania from 1971 to 1978. Directly behind the van is the marquee for the Loew's Penn Theatre, with the Mayflower Coffee Shop on the right."
