History
United Steelworkers of America, Local 1843 was founded in 1937 as part of the Steelworkers Organizing Committee and represented workers at the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation mill in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The union continued to represent workers at the plant after it became part of LTV Steel and up to the plant's closure in 1999.
